I am happy to announce “Tech Reach: Striving towards technical leadership” a 2-day program for technical experts with 7+ years of experience. We plan to run this program every six months. Due to the demand, we had two sessions one in April 12-13 and the other one in May 17-18. We plan to offer the next open program in October 2012. Pl see the highlights of the May session in the presentation below.

Today IT industry in India is transitioning from services to solutions and product ownership. This needs more technical experts to play technical leadership roles. It means not only solving complex technical problems but also defining which problems to be solved in the first place. In addition, technical experts need to effectively communicate options/trade-offs/risks associated with their solutions to various stakeholders – juniors, peers, business leaders and customers.

Objective of Tech Reach is to help technical experts reflect on various aspects of technical leadership, learn new tools and create an action plan towards enhancing their sphere of influence. Tech Reach is designed based on our research / consulting / training in this area for the past 8 years touching 500+ budding technical leaders in 30+ organizations.

Key questions the program intends to cover are:
·        What are the characteristics of a technical leader?
·        How to assess my sphere of influence?
·        How to increase my sphere of influence?
·        How to present a technical solution effectively to peers / business leaders?
·        How to innovate better?
